Mistresses – S1E6 – Payback
This was a good episode. People are finally starting to discover Savi’s little secret, so the drama factor is definitely increasing.
While I feel bad for what Savi’s going through, I think it is also a tad unfair of her to expect Harry to be ready to talk so soon. Finding out that your wife cheated on you, and that she might be pregnant with another man’s baby takes a little bit of time to process. Also, while I agree with her that Kyra is sooo freaking annoying, it was sooo not cool for her to automatically assume that Harry was sleeping with Kyra. Again, she’s placing blame elsewhere to try and make herself feel better about her own actions. Ironic given her speech to Joss about wanting to be judged. I don’t believe that Harry was having an affair. I think Kyra wishes he was, but I don’t buy that he would do that to Savi. Not when he has been so over the moon excited about the pregnancy stuff….prior to finding out it might not be his. While her intentions with trying to find another job are honorable, Savi needs to stop trying to fix everything and let the consequences run their course. She has tried reaching out, and it’s clear that Harry needs time, so for now, let it be. On top of all of this, Savi lies to Dom….oh boy. I get that it was basically a play to get him to stop him from repeatedly trying to get her to admit she has feelings for him, but it’s gonna cause issues down the line.
Again, I still don’t get why Savi wouldn’t tell Joss. She seriously treats Joss like she’s a little kid sometimes. Yeah, I get that Joss isn’t always the most responsible person, and that she still has some growing up to do, but seriously, Savi. She’s your sister. You should have told her from the get go! Joss’ reaction when she found the book in Savi’s dresser was so sweet. She is so excited for her Savi and Harry, and for the prospect of getting to be an aunt. Her little run in with April at the store, capped off by the “Sexy Aunt” shirt, was hilarious. Classic Joss. All of that just makes the fight she has with Savi at the end all the more heartbreaking. I think that Joss was completely right in believing that the reason Savi didn’t tell her had to do with keeping up the “good big sister” act, and had very little to do with Joss herself. I think it is honorable to want to set a good example, but Joss is a big girl now. She doesn’t need to be shielded from Savi’s mistakes.
Obviously whoever broke into Karen’s office, which was presumably Sam based on the end of the episode, clearly knows something about the changed files. Once again, Jacob, and now the rest of Karen’s coworkers, are getting unknowingly dragged into Karen’s legal issues. You just can’t help but feel bad for them. Jacob walking out on her was completely reasonable and called for. Despite the problems in her own life, Karen is actually pretty good at the therapy thing when talking with Savi. I will give her that much.
April and Richard are so adorable. He is so sweet and so understanding about the Miranda situation. Speaking of the Miranda situation, I’d be taking legal action against her. Her advances are almost more frustrating to watch than Kyra’s with Harry and Savi. Something big is going to happen with April now willingly giving her money. Clearly she has no problem asking for more than she deserves, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see her keep coming back for more.
Olivier….what can I say about Olivier. He’s proving to be a tough nut for Joss to crack. Unlike Mac, he doesn’t appear to take kindly to the flirting or pushing of boundaries. The banana bit at the end was great, and I must say he took it like a champ. I can’t decide whether I like or dislike Olivier at this point. I need more information. Maybe I should Google it…..ha…bad joke.
Overall, I enjoyed this episode. It was pretty heavily focused on the fallout of Savi’s secret being revealed to Harry and Joss, but, as Savi and Joss are kind of my favorites to watch, I was pretty okay with that. Having watched the whole first season, I know there are even better things to come, so let’s get to them. On to the next episode.
Best Moment(s):
-April covering for Savi by blurting out that she had sex with Richard.
-Savi getting out some anger cracking the Lobster shells while Karen tries to talk some sense into her
-Olivier finds the bananas
Best Quote(s):
Joss: What’s up?
(Long pause)
April: I slept with Richard last night.
Joss: Fantastic!
Savi: You what?!?!
April: In the store. On a bed that cost 699 dollars plus tax.
Joss: (grabs a doughnut) For the road.
Savi: (looks in box) Of course she took the only jelly doughnut.
Joss: You can say his name, Mona, he’s not Voldemort.
April: Savi told you she was pregnant?
Joss: Oh no, that wench didn’t tell me anything.
